Verona

Hi Guys:

Just a short entry on my Easter weekend in Verona, Italy. Very cool place spent with very cool people.

Quick thoughts:

not a lot of pasta in Verona - lotsa meat - met my culinary waterloo - check the pic and you'll see why!

best wine culture in Italy, at least that I've seen

Aperol Spritzer - YUM YUM

played lotsa Yahtzee (I probably shouldn't admit that out loud)

Juliet's balcony is fake - who knew! (whadya mean Juliet is fake too?)

Only one drink-'n-dial - not bad!!

Anyway, page 2 for pics that speak a 1000 words.

Show Your Support

Hi Guys:

Have a friend who is putting on a charity event and needs some support in the way of voting to ensure that it's a viable event. The voting is because the charity organization with whom they are working requires it prior to accepting the proposal. This organization does everything gratis to support the cause but simply needs votes.

If you can take two minutes, read more and then please vote! It only takes a few seconds and would be greatly appreciated!!

The Josephine Series

So, this is a three-part book report, reporting on the trilogy of novels written by Sandra Gulland - The Many Lives and Secret Sorrows of Josephine B.; Tales of Passion, Tales of Woe; and finally The Last Great Dance on Earth.

So, you can see why my books have to be easy and quick to read - so that my book reports can be as well!! This trilogy came to me on the recommendation of my pal Stacy, and in fact as a gift from her as well. I do love a historical novel; all the better to learn something with and I must say that I learned much here. The books are written in the form of Josephine's diaries and I confess that after the first one I thought that they were real - okay, shows how not-so-smrt I am sometimes - Jay did a good job in pointing out to me that it's "fiction" - oh yeah, right - how quickly I forget and am enraptured by a good love story.

So, all that to say, thumbs up on these as well - the diary style is endearing to telling the story of Rose and I confess that I was smitten.

Eat, Pray, Love

Okay, so I know that EVERYBODY is reading this book - well all the girls are anyway. I have to say that I can see why - gets my thumbs up - but I'm not entirely sure if that's because I have lived vicariously now on her "Italy" tour. The thought of just learning a language for shits and giggles seems so decadent and something, that many of my friends can attest, that I've always wanted to do with Italian - lovely language!

Anyway, great book, worth a read - she's humorous (always good) and honest (not so sure that many people would admit to anti-depressants in such a global manner) and I enjoyed her escapades.

Beijing

So, after Japan we went to China for more meetings - we're very important you know, we have to 'meet' a lot. Wow, whew, yaosa, big important stuff we're dealing with here.

Okay, now to be serious. We didn't see anything, literally no time, but we did have one fun dinner/ entertainment evening courtesy of the company, which was quite fun. We managed to go shopping for a whole 1/2 hour on the last day that we were there, and we even convinced Jay (ye of the I don't buy cheap-shit-made-in-China group) to buy a Pashmina there. Okay, let's be honest, he didn't need much convincing - right Jay???? Anyway, page two are some photos. It's all I can offer!!

Japan

So recently again I have been to Japan, which is fast approaching one of my favourite places - just LOVE it. Anyway, I had another business trip there but this time what was different is that I also had a business trip in Beijing the following week. So, do I fly home to Frankfurt on the weekend for approximately 18 hours, after having taken a 12 hour flight back, only to turn around to another 12 hour flight to Beijing? No way! But do I spend the weekend in Japan then or China. Well, for me it's a no brainer. I would like to say that it's all about the food, but since the food in China is pretty darn good, it was more about my preference to stay in Japan.

Window Seat

I spend most of every flight with my face pressed up against the window, presumably resembling an eight year old that has never travelled, squishy nose and all. You'll always find me trying to clean my window, just so that I can get a better look. Sometimes it doesn't work so well especially when it's the double of the double-paned glass that's the dirty one!

But is Nice just the nicest airport ever to fly into, or what? I have so forgotten how beautiful it is. First you have to deal with flying over the mountains - yeah, hardship. And then you fly right over the Med, you descend and descend and you think that you are going to land on an aircraft carrier or something. Then you bank right and think for certain the wing tips are going to take a wing dip into the sea, but no, you just keep descending and banking and you are not even getting wet!!

And then you land. Ahhh, it's so beautiful! Much like Vancouver only, dare I say - nicer? Or would that be Nicer?

P.S. I just checked into my hotel and it's official - I am never leaving. The balcony is bigger than my apartment and I am right across from the Baie des Anges. Travel not being glamorous? Yeah, right!!! I'm the glamor queen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
